water over the weir

A drop of water seems so insignificant. Yet many drops of water form a powerful torrent. At times my efforts may seem insignificant. Yet my small efforts and the small efforts of many people can be quite powerful.

tenacity

I heard a children's story once about dandelions. The story said that dandelion's were God's favourite flower. No matter how we try to pluck them, poison them, destroy them, they still grow. They grow in good soil and bad. May I have the tenacity of the dandelion.

The Color Purple

In her novel, The Color Purple, Alice Walker says God gets pissed off if we walk by a field of purple and don't admire its beauty. I am not sure about that. But seeing these magnificent blossoms, one can see the glories of creation before us.

summer

Although the calendar still says May, it has felt like summer this week. A time when things blossom, bear fruit, and flourish. Lets take some time this week, to give thanks for all those things that we have accomplished this past winter and spring. Like the hibiscus, may they blossom into something beautiful.

perspective

Perspective. My loved one's health scare last summer put life in perspective. A 3rd clear check up yesterday fills us with joy. Perspective- seeing a homeless man sleeping alone on a park bench. Yet minutes later celebrating a long standing friendship with good friends. Times might seem tough at times but when things get put in perspective I realize that blessings abound.

cornflower in bloom

A superb Victoria Day and I caught a picture of this bloom just before the evening's fireworks began. As I looked at the photo, I realized how like the fireworks, the flower blooms reach out beyond the centre. Reaching out from our hearts. Grasping into the unknown. Isn't that what faith calls us to do? Aren't we called to trust and have faith? Aren't we called to reach out to others, just as we have been blessed? Isn't that how life becomes vibrant? By reaching out beyond ourselves.

Introduction

I love taking pictures but am often don't get all I can from my camera. With patience though I am learning. I will be posting images here and sharing my thoughts. Hopefully you find some wisdom in my musings or at least appreciate the photos.
